John Grisham Defends the Right of White Guys to View Kiddie Porn.

Sorry kid. John Grisham says his buddy shouldn’t be punished for seeing you being abused.

When you don’t think before you speak you end up saying something you’ll regret.   For former attorney and best-selling author John Grisham, master of the legal potboiler, his regretful remarks came in defense of a law school friend who got caught up in a sting operation when he was busted for viewing child pornography.

We have prisons now filled with guys my age. Sixty-year-old white men in prison who’ve never harmed anybody, would never touch a child”.

“But they got online one night and started surfing around, probably had too much to drink or whatever, and pushed the wrong buttons, went too far and got into child porn.”

“His drinking was out of control, and he went to a website. It was labelled ‘sixteen year old wannabee hookers or something like that’. And it said ’16-year-old girls’. So he went there. Downloaded some stuff – it was 16 year old girls who looked 30.

“He shouldn’t ’a done it. It was stupid, but it wasn’t 10-year-old boys. He didn’t touch anything. And God, a week later there was a knock on the door: ‘FBI!’ and it was sting set up by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to catch people – sex offenders – and he went to prison for three years.”

“There’s so many of them now. There’s so many ‘sex offenders’ – that’s what they’re called – that they put them in the same prison. Like they’re a bunch of perverts, or something; thousands of ’em. We’ve gone nuts with this incarceration.”

“I have no sympathy for real paedophiles.  God, please lock those people up. But so many of these guys do not deserve harsh prison sentences, and that’s what they’re getting,

There’s so much wrong with Grisham’s faulty reasoning it’s reasonable to wonder if he’s been drinking too much.

Does it matter the 16-year-old wannabee hookers Grisham’s BFF trolled the Internet for turned out to be 30-year-olds-posing as 16-year-olds? Even if the results weren’t what Mr. Pants Down Around the Ankles was hoping for, his intent is clear. Grisham sounds like the attorney he was trying to make excuses for a guilty as hell client.

All aboard The Rationalization Express!

Making child porn makes children the victim. Watching child porn is getting your rocks off to victimized children. Those who demand kiddie porn are as scummy as those who supply it and Grisham making alibis for these maggots who spank one out to a sexually exploited child makes him no better than them.

In adult pornography, no matter how demeaning, degrading or disgusting it may be, it is typically made with the advised content of the participants. A woman in a 10-man-gangbang may not know how nasty things are going to get, but she chose to put herself in that situation of her own free will.

I don’t know how to “accidentally” look for child pornography.   There is certainly a lot of dark stuff you can inadvertently and unintentionally stumble upon on the Internet, but kiddie porn isn’t one of them. You gotta be looking for it.

Seek and ye shall find. Just don’t claim the innocent when your hard drive starts filling up.

Do I need to explain why it is impossible for children and infants to say the same? All pornography is not created equally and yes, there are places even porn should not be allowed to go.  I have no sympathy for pedophiles and if they think their punishment is too harsh and I’m cruel, judgmental and intolerant toward them, they’re absolutely right.

On his website, Grisham issued a standard ass-covering “apology.”

This is where Grisham’s buddy belongs.

“Anyone who harms a child for profit or pleasure, or who in any way participates in child pornography — online or otherwise — should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. My comments made two days ago during an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph were in no way intended to show sympathy for those convicted of sex crimes, especially the sexual molestation of children. I can think of nothing more despicable. I regret having made these comments, and apologize to all.”

Elitists like Gresham trivialize child pornography with his bleeding heart sympathizing with the guys who enjoy this trash and ignoring the real victims, the children. Or at least until his foot in mouth begins to reach down to his wallet then he beats a hasty, and cowardly retreat.

Grisham is an apologist for these deviants and that is disgusting as they are. There is no rationalization and no justification for viewing and enjoying a child being violated. NONE.

It must be a tremendous comfort for the 60-year-old White men who get plastered one night, fire up the laptop, and go one-hand cruising for kiddie porn to know they have somebody like John Grisham looking out for them.

But who’s looking out for the kids? Not Grisham who’s just another rich elitist snob who thinks it’s a travesty that his buddies get busted for enjoying moppets being molested.   I consider Grisham’s shoulder shrugging defense of his friend to be nothing more than pedophilia apologia. Finding  kiddie porn is not a matter of plugging the phrase into a Google search.

It’s one thing to be unlucky enough to stumble onto a dark corner of the web and another entirely when you’re already a member of the club and know all the lingo, slang, and secret passwords. I suspect this is the reason Grisham’s amigo got a three-year jolt instead of a judge buying his bullshit story.

I already thought Grisham was a lousy writer. Now I know he’s a sleaze too.

The Hunting of Assata Shakur

From Revolutionary Icon to Most Wanted Terrorist in 40 years.

Suddenly hearing the name of Joanne Chesimard, a.k.a. Assata Shakur in the wake of her dubious distinction being named to the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists List jerked me back to the Seventies when I was young man.   I was never a true Black militant like Shakur, but I knew who she was, identified with her fight against a racist, oppressive U.S. government and saw her as a strong sister who had escaped the reach of the system by leaving the country only to turn up as an honored guest in Fidel Castro’s Cuba.

The feds are serious about branding Shakur as an enemy of the state.  The FBI placed a $1 million dollar reward (or bounty) for her arrest which along with the money New Jersey has kicked in puts a $2 million price tag on her head.

What did Shakur do to make her the only woman on a list of primarily Arab terrorists including Ayman Al-Zawahiri,  the replacement for Osama bin Laden as the leader of Al Qaeda?   The details why are found on Shakur’s wanted poster with the FBI’s version of events.

Joanne Chesimard is wanted for escaping from prison in Clinton, New Jersey, while serving a life sentence for murder. On May 2, 1973, Chesimard, who was part of a revolutionary extremist organization known as the Black Liberation Army, and two accomplices were stopped for a motor vehicle violation on the New Jersey Turnpike by two troopers with the New Jersey State Police. At the time, Chesimard was wanted for her involvement in several felonies, including bank robbery. Chesimard and her accomplices opened fire on the troopers. One trooper was wounded and the other was shot and killed execution-style at point-blank range. Chesimard fled the scene, but was subsequently apprehended. One of her accomplices was killed in the shoot-out and the other was also apprehended and remains in jail.

In 1977, Chesimard was found guilty of first degree murder, assault and battery of a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to kill, illegal possession of a weapon, and armed robbery. She was sentenced to life in prison. On November 2, 1979, Chesimard escaped from prison and lived underground before being located in Cuba in 1984. She is thought to currently still be living in Cuba.

Shakur was prosecuted, but is she now being persecuted?

A few of the details missing from the FBI’s version of events is Chesimard/Shakur was shot while seated with her arms raised, her fingerprints were not found on any guns nor was any gunpowder residue detected on her hands.   Despite the curious lack of evidence against her, in 1977 Shakur was convicted and sentenced to 33 years plus life

“No person, no matter what his or her political or moral convictions are, is above the law. Joanne Chesimard is a domestic terrorist who murdered a law enforcement officer execution style,” said FBI Special Agent Aaron Ford at a press conference announcing Shakur’s addition to the Most Wanted Terrorists list.

In an interview with Democracy Now,  Shakur’s attorney Lennox Hinds and Angela Davis,  another target of the government’s wrath, J. Edgar Hoover’s racism hatred, COINTELPRO and other initiatives declaring open season on Black revolutionaries denounced the renewed  hunt for Shakur.

“…It was a major shock to hear that Assata Shakur has become the first woman to be added to the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list and then to learn that they’re adding another million dollars to the reward, the bounty. Really, it seems to me that this act incorporates or reflects the very logic of terrorism. I can’t help but think that it’s designed to frighten people who are involved in struggles today. Forty years ago seems as if it were a long time ago, four decades; however, in the 21st century, at the beginning of the 21st century, we’re still fighting around the very same issues—police violence, healthcare, education, people in prison, and so forth. So I see this as an attack not so much on Assata herself, although of course she deserves to be brought home. She deserves to be able to live out her life, and with justice and peace. It was wonderful that you allowed people, through this program, to hear Assata’s words, because, 40 years later, people really don’t know the details of the case and are not aware of the extent to which she was targeted by the FBI by the COINTEL Program, as Lennox pointed out. And it’s amazing that in 2013, where she is living in Cuba as a political refugee, having given—having been given political asylum by Cuba, she is still pursued. And actually, this is an invitation for anyone to travel to Cuba illegally and to kidnap her and bring her back to the United States, if not shoot her dead. This is—as I said, was an extremely shocking revelation.”

Angela Davis knows something about being a political prisoner.

I cannot fathom what Attorney General Eric Holder thinks going after a 65-year-old fugitive is going to accomplish.   Cuba won’t extradite Shakur and she certainly isn’t about to return to stand trial.  Sending the Navy SEALS in after her might work in the movies, but odds are it wouldn’t work as well as Zero Dark Thirty.

Perhaps what’s driving this renewed effort to get Shakur now is in the wake of the Boston bombings the Obama Administration is in search of another head to mount on the wall.   Shakur has successfully evaded the grasp of her pursuers for decades and they’re still ticked off about it.   Break out of prison, evade your captors, escape to Cuba and you’re not going to be forgotten by your enemies.   They will remember your name.

What does it gain the Obama Administration to pursue a vendetta against Shakur?   Is this Holder and Obama trying to look tough?   Is this their “Sistah Souljah” moment where they show how they won’t play favorites even when the terrorist (that’s a laugh) is a Black woman?

If Shakur was a threat to the United States before, she certainly isn’t now.   She isn’t mailing any letters contaminated with ricin or bombing any marathons.   The timing of branding her a terrorist is as curious as it is misguided.   Shakur has gone from a young revolutionary to a political prisoner to a old woman who will likely as not live out her last years in exile 90 miles away from her homeland.

Shakur should be left alone.   The good guys don’t always win and in this case, it’s not clear who the good guys are.

Tonight We Are All Boston

boston-marathon-explosion-02

We are all Boston.

At this time it is far too early to speculate who is responsible for the terror attack against the Boston Marathon.   But one thing is clear.   Whomever is responsible is a coward.    As I write this there are three dead and over 100 wounded.  One of those slain was an 8-year-old boy.

This is more than an act of terror.   This is a terrible tragedy and an attack on all of America.  My hope is the FBI and the authorities investigating will swiftly identify and bring those responsible into custody.

Speaking from the White House, President Obama was restrained in his remarks about the bombing.

“We still do not know who did this or why and people should not jump to conclusions before we have all the facts. But, make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this,” he said. “Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice.”

When something like this happens, it exposes the weakness of the 24-hour news cycle.  There is far more speculation than there are facts.   Every retired FBI agent and security expert is given ample air time to pontificate and posit what could have happened and who might have done it.  As we have already learned, reports of multiple explosive devices and possible “persons of interest” under arrest have been proven not to be true.   There will be more things being reported as true today that will be revealed as false tomorrow.

As I flip from CNN to MSNBC to Fox News, I’m stunned by how awful the reporting is and it goes deeper than not enough facts to fill the air time.    Between  Anderson Cooper, Piers Morgan, Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow, Bill O’ Reilly and Sean Hannity, not a one of them reminds anyone of Walter Cronkite or Dan Rather.

However, there will be ample opportunities to critique how the press performed in response to the Boston bombing.   Now is a time for comforting the wounded,  burying the dead and running to ground the culprits.

We are received yet another bitter reminder while we must never live in fear, we must always be vigilant.   America has enemies both within and without who will target civilians and those enemies must be identified and made to pay for their crimes.

Boston-Marathon-finish-line2

I do not believe in religion, but I do believe in God and I hope in His goodness and mercy.   Now is a time for both.

We will see how long until God’s wrath presents itself.      Tonight we are all Boston.

One more thing.  You got a conspiracy theory you want to share about what really happened in Boston?    Keep it to yourself.  I don’t want to hear about it.
